The Digimarc product suite is built on top of the Digimarc® Illuminate platform to address specific business needs. Digimarc products are available as a fully managed, scalable, software-as-a-service (SaaS) subscriptions.
Digimarc Illuminate platform is also made available as a platform-as-a-service (PaaS) subscription, allowing Digimarc customers to integrate platform capabilities with other business applications and workflows.
An integral part of the Illuminate platform is the digital watermarking capability. Digimarc® Watermarks can be applied to physical products and digital media for the purpose of connecting those artifacts to the Digimarc Illuminate platform.
All Products are covered by the Digimarc Service Level Agreement.
Definitions
Capitalized terms not defined have the meaning provided in the Master Terms or Order Form referencing this Product Description.
“Application Key” means a Digimarc Illuminate Platform application API key enabling customer-built software applications to interface with the Digimarc Illuminate Platform.
“Behavior” means the combination of a Digital Twin’s Data Carrier and the functionality provided by the Digimarc Illuminate Platform when that Data Carrier interacts with a compatible device or application.
“Data Exchange” means the process of transmitting, sharing, or retrieving data between different software applications using an Application Programming Interface ("API”).
“Deploy Now, Activate Later” means the provisioning of platform capabilities to apply data carriers without a Behavior, identified by an inactive Digital Twin state. A Behavior may be added at a later stage, identified by an active Digital Twin state.
“Digimarc Edge” means local data storage and processing of interactions with regular synchronization with the Digimarc Illuminate Platform.
“Domain” means a customer-owned domain name that is configured to route to the Digimarc Illuminate Platform for redirection.
“Facility” means a customer-owned, -operated, or -contracted location where industrial activities are conducted.
“Interaction” means an instance of data exchange between different components or services within the Digimarc Illuminate Platform.
“Preview” means a Digimarc Illuminate Platform software environment enabling non-commercial use of the Digimarc Illuminate Platform, including testing, simulation, access to unreleased features.
“Production” means a Digimarc Illuminate Platform software environment enabling commercial use of the Digimarc Illuminate Platform.
“Single Sign-On” means a method of User authentication based on centralized/federated credentials, using SAML protocol.
“Single Tenant Data” means a dedicated data environment, exclusive to a single customer.
"Scan" means an instance of a Customer Application interacting with the Digimarc Illuminate Platform to decode a Data Carrier and trigger a Behavior.
“Subscription” means an active agreement for one or more of the Digimarc Illuminate SaaS products described in this document, or an active agreement for the Digimarc Illuminate PaaS platform described in this document.
“System Integration” means an instance of a Digimarc Illuminate Platform integration enabling the ingestion and extraction of data from and by customer’s enterprise software applications.
“User” means customer personnel with Digimarc Illuminate Platform access.
Subscriptions
The Digimarc Illuminate Platform and Products (formerly “Product Services”) are offered through a range of modularized subscription options and, as such, not all capabilities above are available to all users and must be appropriately licensed and configured before use.
A Subscription to the Digimarc Illuminate Platform is required for any commercial use of the Products.

Digimarc Validate
Digimarc Validate enables the authentication of physical goods by interacting with the Data Carrier, connected to the Digital Twin for a product. Digimarc Validate also enables users to assert ownership of their digital assets by identifying images used by third parties without consent.
