Digimarc Earns Emmy® Award for Engineering Creativity in Audio/Video

Company receives highest achievement in television industry for its development and support of steganographic technology

Beaverton, Ore. — September 3, 2015 — Digimarc Corporation (NASDAQ: DMRC) has been honored with a coveted Emmy® Award for Technology & Engineering, highlighting more than 20 years of groundbreaking research and development in digital media. The internationally-renowned Emmy® Award, granted by The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) and chosen each year by dozens of industry experts and peers, recognizes excellence and represents the highest achievement in the television industry.

The 67th Annual Technology & Engineering Emmy® Award for Steganographic Technologies for Audio/Video acknowledges Digimarc for engineering creativity in the company’s work in the entertainment industry. Steganography is the process of embedding information in media in ways that facilitate accurate identification by computer interfaces, yet are imperceptible to people. Many applications of these innovations have been developed, culminating in the Digimarc Discover and Digimarc Barcode software and services platform. The Company, and its business partners, have developed numerous solutions that improve copyright protection and licensing, facilitate audience measurement, and enhance consumer media experiences.

“The Academy is pleased to highlight Digimarc’s role in developing and deploying digital watermarking techniques, and the company’s continuing contributions to advancing the technical possibilities for the art and science of television,” said Robert P. Seidel, Chairman of the Technology & Engineering Committee, NATAS. “Digimarc’s technology has materially impacted the business of television through the tracking, tracing and monetization of broadcast and cable content.”

“The receipt of this prestigious Emmy® Award is a testimony to the extraordinary achievements of our scientists, engineers, and business partners,” said Bruce Davis, Chairman and CEO, Digimarc. “Digimarc has a deep heritage of developing industry-advancing technologies, resulting in over 800 patents covering a broad range of inventions in digital watermarking and content identification.”

The Company’s inventions enhance the value and management of all forms of media. Notable recent innovations focus on automatic identification by smartphones of all brand impressions in the modern shopper’s journey. These capabilities include providing television audiences with interactive advertising and other ‘second screen’ viewing experiences.

The Emmy® Award will be formally presented to Digimarc during the 67th Annual Technology & Engineering Emmy® Awards banquet at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas on Friday, January, 8, 2016 during the popular International Consumer Electronics Show (CES).
